It is not recommended to use Aggrenox if you have asthma or polyps in your nose, or if you by any chance are allergic to aspirin or an NSAID.

Generic aspirin and dipyridamole can increase the risk of bleeding which can be life-threatening. Immediately seek medical assistance if you witness bleeding that won’t stop or if you are having a black stool or cough that is bloody.

Aspirin, salicylates, and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are contained in many medicines available over the counter. If you take certain products together you may accidentally take too much of a certain type of drug. Call your doctor at once if you have:

new or worsening chest pain;

a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;

hearing problems, ringing in your ears;

liver problems - nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tiredness, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

signs of stomach bleeding - stomach pain, severe heartburn, bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds; or

signs of bleeding in the brain - confusion, memory problems, severe headache, fainting.

Common Aggrenox side effects may include:

headache;

heartburn, upset stomach;

nausea, stomach pain; or

diarrhea

You can take Aggrenox with or without food.

This medicine can cause a headache when you first start using it.

Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor has advised you to.

Store Aggrenox at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
